Mr. H. H. Barker
United States Radium Corporation
535 Pearl Street
New York, New York
My dear Howard:
There are one or two small corrections I would
like to make on the report about the tests for radioactivity which
we conducted on you at the time of your visit. Under the heading
of Gamma Ray Measurements, page 1, the second line, under N.D.,
40-30 24° - 5", instead of 27. In the Yourth line the drift
per second should be 7.20 instead of 7.19, and in the sixth line,
the drift per second should be 680 instead of 671, and the average
drifts for Barker should be 7.00 instead of 6.95.
These changes,
however, do not materially affect the activity which is given as
three micrograms.
During the Thanksgiving Holidays, I have been
very much absorbed in some experiments in detecting radium and
mesothorium in a living subject. While the experimental data will
not be ready to report until the end of the week, I hope, however,
that they will offer some suggestions for further experiments and
tests on the girls. Up to the present, I cannot say what the
outcome of my labors will be. Perhans it will be a weed instead
of a fish which I will finally pull up. But at all events the
results so far in hand are certainly very illuminating+
With very kind regards, I remain
Sincerely yours,
Herman Sehlundt
Herman Schlundt.
