Dr. Herman Schlundt, University of Missouri, Columbia, No. Dear Dr. Schlundt: Upon making inquiry of our Shipping Department as to the date of shipment of the Wulf Gamma Ray electroscope, and find that it is still in our possession. irr. McCoy who takes care of this chase of the work carefully set it aside and neglected to forward it during the Christmas rush. It will go forward today and we trust that you will receive it in first class condition. Ne have had several conferences with Mr. Eilert of the Vital Ray Corporation regarding their preparation of a pad to be marketed. I have no knowledge as to what they have put into their pads, but do know that the material which we supplied them contained the quantity of radium specified. As I recall it I gave them instructions as to the bulk of this material which should be used to make up a pad dontaining 15 micrograns of radium element, but whether or not they followed these instructions I have no knowledge. After all it se ns to me as though the only practical way to definitely determine the amount of radium contained in one of these pads would be to egnite one and make a radium determination on the residue. I would not have a great deal of faith with a gamna ray determination of an applicator of this type. We shall be interested to know what you find upon completing your tests on this pad. Yesterday we had another conference with our Lawyers, and they hope that they have Mr. Berry in a position whereby he cannot avoid giving them the priválege of an electroscope exemination. Mr. Smith and Mr. Markley petitioned the Court for the privilege of an examination, and as I understand it the Court granted them such právilege under the condition that they belect a physician to conduct this work, ano that the physician may call in such assistance as he deems necessary for a thorough exanination. The Assistants which will be selected, of course, shall not be disclosed until the time of exemination, and at that time it is our Attorneys ides to have you and Dr. Flinn present at the request of the physician conducting the electroscopic test. They asked me when I thought you would be available, to which I replied that it was my understanding that if you had sufficient notice you could arrange to be here sometime during the early part of February. I hope that your schedule is such at the University that it will be possible for you to come to New York in case the contemplated plan is carried out. It is our thought that while you are here we will also complete the work on the five girls recently examined at the Hotel Marseilles. it.
