OLLINS & CORBIN COUNSELLORS AT LAW CLEMENT K. CORBIN ROBERT J. BAIN EDWARD A. MARKLEY DAVID A. NEWTON 1 EXCHANGE PLACE, CHARLES w. BROADHURST JERSEY CITY. N. J. JAN 25 1929 HOWARD F. MC INTYRE FRANK A. BOEHLER JAMES B. EMORY PATRICK F. MC DEVITT FRANK P. CLANCY January 24, 1929. Canfield, et al, vs. U. S. Radium Corporation H. H. Barker, Esq. Vice President, U. S. Radium Corporation, 535 Pearl Street, New York City. Dear Mr. Barker: We today had a talk with Dr. Humphreys in regard to having an examination by our x-ray experts of his radiographs. He is perfectly willing that they should have an examination of them, although he would like to be present when they are at the Orthopedic Hospital at Orange for that purpose. The hospital is located on Lincoln Avenue, Orange, and the telephone number is Orange 4032. We told him that Dr. Steiner and another x-ray expert would like to call. He said they could call any day but suggested that they telephone him first so as to make certain that he will be there. It is therefore a simple matter to make the arrange- ment with Dr. Humphrey and we suggest that a day or two before the call he should be telephoned to for the purpose of making the ap- pointment definite. The sooner this examination is had and the report given to us the better. Mr. Smith and I expect to confer with Dr. Martland on Jamuary 31 in the evening, and if it is possible to have the report of our x-ray experts before that we would appreciate it, although it is not essential that we should have it in order to interview Dr. Martland. Reiterating our telephonic talk with you this morn- ing, please be advised that Dr. Humphreys said that Miss Katherine Schaub is now a patient at the Orthopedic Hospital and that she is in very bad condition; so bad that he does not expect her to live very long. Her trouble seems to be primarily in her joints. He says her mouth condition is not particularly bad. We think it would be very wise to have Dr. Humphreys present when Dr. Steiner and his associate examine the x-ray pictures for this reason; that they can ask him to point out to them the line or other indicia of radium deposits or necrosis as evidenced on the x-ray pictures. You will remember that we scoffed at the idea that Dr. Humphreys could show on an x-ray plate any radium necrosis by indicating a line or lines in the plate. Our doctors should ask Dr. Humphreys to point out specifically to them the evidence that he finds
