March 8th,1929. Dr. Herman Schlundt, University of Missouri, Columbia, Mo. Dear Dr. Schlundt: Your letter of March 4th, regarding your trip to Missouri, as well as enclosing statement for your expenses, etc., is at hand. I am confident that you enjoyed your side trips on the way home and found them fully as profitable as if you had jurried back to Columbia. Dr. Turner's letter as well as statement of expenses were received by us, as well as duplicate copies sent diredtly from Dr. Turner. I have acknowledged receipt of this data from Dr, Turner, and advised him that check will go forward for his services in due course. I am today writing the Committee relative to your proceeding with the analysis of the radium content of the residues collected, and hope to have their consent in the near future. We are preparing the one and two microgram ampoules for use in calibration of the gamma ray electroscope and shall forward you duplicates of the ones which we turn over to Dr. Flinn. lie think that we will endeavor to calibrate emanation chambers Nos. t and 7 next week here at our laboratories. We shall use care not to contaminate these instruments in any way, and I an in hopes that their low natural drift will not be materially influenced by being in our laboratories for a few days. Relative to your inquiry as to the "offspring" of the five girls: I understand that Mrs. MacDonald is the only one with any family, she has two children, I believe. Mrs. Larice has given birth to two or three children, who were dead at the time of delivery. We wish to extend to you our appreciation of your modesty in charging for services rendered during your stay at the Marseilles. While I appreciate that you are finding this subject of interest from a scientific stand- point, still I do not know as that interest is sufficient for you to contribute your services gratis. However, the corporation appreciates your kindness in this direction and we hope that the breaks may be such that you will eventually be rewarded. Sincerely yours, HHBarker: RH Vice President.
