May 18th,1929. Dr. Herman Schlundt, University of Missouri, Columbia, Mo. Dear Dr. Schlundt: Your note written from Flat River, Mo., is at hand and I am glad to note that the work on the excreta has been completed and, shall look forward to the results with interest. The last tine I saw Dr. Flinn he had not under- taken the calibration of the Wulf-Hess nachine, but stated that he expected to do so within the next day or two. Unfortunately I am having to serve on the jury in Essex County during the next week or so and will of necessity be away from the office a good part of the time. I would, therefore, suggest that you write Dr. Flinn directly regorting the abote point. Your explenation of the anomalous results obtained with the gamma ray machine is of interest and suggests a thought to me. I am of the opinion that this machine is practically air tight, and if such is the case the increased or reduced pressure in the machine due to variations in temperature might well explain the difference in results. I believe something of this nature is the answer to the problem. You will be interested to know that I am seriously considering spending the month of July and the first two week in August in Europe. In the event that I go I shall sail on June 29th, and return about August 19th. With kind regards, I am Sincerely yours, Vice President. HHBarker
