    "ocrText": "J une 13th,1929.\nDr. Herman Schlundt,\nUniversity of Missouri,\nColumiba, No.\nDear Dr. Schlundt:\nRepresentatives of the Insurance Companies carrying our\ncoverage during the periods that the girls who are suing, together with ourselves,\nwas held on Wednesday of this week and, a basis arrived at whereby all outstanding\nbills could be paid. However, there may be a little delay in attending to this\nmatter, due to the fact that statements will have to be rendered to those involved\nand checks supplied to cover such expenses and, therefore, we are enclosing herewith\na check for $150.00.\nPlease be advised that this is strictly in the nature of an\nadvance by the U. S.R. Corporation to you and has no bearing whatever on the expenses\ndue you for your trip East, except that we expect to be reimbursed at such time as\nyou are paid. You should not advise the Insurance Companies of this advance by us\nbut should look to then for full adjustment of your account. This matter as I\nsee it is strictly personal and, this letter will serve as a memorandum of the\ntransaction as it now stands.\nThe check enclosed for $150, with the advance made to you by me\npersonally of $60.00, makes your personal obligation to us $210.00.\nWith reference to the preparation of a. second paper incorporating\ndata as to the rate of elimination of radium in excreta, my suggestion would be that\nwe proceed with the preparation of this paper and, at such time as it has been com-\npleted we may deem it necessary to submit it to the Committee for their approval.\nI am not certain that this will be necessary, however, for there will be no disclo-\nsure in the paper as to the source of the data presented. I am, however, wondering\nwhat Dr. Flinn's disposition will be to incorporating the data, which he has collected,\nfor joint publication. Our relations with Dr. Flinn have not been as close of late\nas they were at one time, although such relations are very cordial. As I have pre-\nviously indicated to you Dr. Flinn seems to be disposed to proceed upon his own\ninitiative in a good part of this work and, it seems to us the best thing to do is\nto not attempt to interfere in any way. Just what connections he has developed with\nDr. Knef I am not fully aware, but it seens that Dr. Knef's version of such relations\ndoes not coincide exactly with Dr. Flinn. However, Dr. Flinn has unquestionably\ndiscussed several phases of the situation with Dr. Knef and disclosed facts which he\ntold us he was not going to do.\nDr. Flinn through Dr. Knef's cooperation has examined the offspring\nof both Mrs. Metz and Mrs. Tuck and, to our surprise found that the female offspring\nare radio-active. I do not recall whether be examined any male offspring or not,\nbut if so I believe that they were inactive. You can appreciate that such informa-\ntion is of considerable importance at this tice and, we do not feel that there is"
