DEPARTMENT OF PATHOLOGY CORNELL UNIVERSITY MEDICAL COLLEGE FIRST AVENUE AND 28TH STREET NEW YORK JUL 3 1929 July 2, 1929. Mr. H. H. Barker, U. S. Radium Corporation, 535 Pearl Street, New York City. My dear Mr. Barker: At the last meeting of the Commission, it was agreed that Krumbhaar and I should send you a bill for $1,000, each, and that Craver should have about t wice that amount Dr. Craver has really done all the work on these cases and ha.s acted as their physician. He has arranged the meetings; superintended the radiographs; arranged for the radiologic tests;conducted the correspondence with the women and with Dr. Schlundt; written the histories. He is the only one of the three who has really made a competent, or at least a complete clinical study of the cases. If there is any reduction in the charges to be made, I think it should not be in Craver's bill, but rather with mine and Krumbhaars. His most valuable service has been his continual spirit of what I regard as a sound attitude in all matters that have arisen. of course our bills for the next year, if we are retained, should not be as large as this year. I am much concerned to see that the medical charges in this affair are kept within reason a nd would be very glad to discuss the matter of our charges, if you wish to do so. I enclose Dr. Craver's bill with my approval. Sincerely yours, Juning James Ewing.
