Bailey Radium "aboratories
East Orange, New Jersey
Gentlemen:
I have seen a recent bulletin of yours in which you
advertise and recormend the internal use of Radium and Meso-
Thorium Salts.
It is difficult for me to believe that you have not
seen reports of the cases in connection with the United
States Radium Corporation, in which certain girls claimed
to be poisoned due to contact with Radium paint. If you
have seen such reports, it is also difficult for me to under-
stand how you can offer for sale material claiming to contain
Radium and Meso-Thorium Salts to be taken internally.
I fully realize that so-called *Radio-active water"
containing Radium Emanation has been used frequently in the
past and that probably no harm, even if no good, results from
such use. The taking internally, however, or Radium or Meso-
Thorium Salts certainly should be discontinued until more
definite evidence can be obtained one way or the other as re-
gards their therapeutic effect.
Very sincerely yours,
R. B. Moore
