DEPARTMENT OF PATHOLOGY JAN 251930 CORNELL UNIVERSITY MEDICAL COLLEGE FIRST AVENUE AND 28TH STREET NEW YORK January 24, 1930. Mr. H. H. Barker, U. S. Radium Corporation, 535 Pearl Street, New York City. My dear Mr. Barker: I have bills from Mrs. Edna Hussman, 50 Buchanan Street, Hillside N.J. for $45.90 for tonics and medicines of various sorts since August 24th, 1920, and also a bill for $89.00 from her dentist. She pays $2.00 a week for tonics. I asked the dentist to specify in detail the nature of his services, which are indicated on the enclosed bill. Both these accounts seem to me to be somewhat padded, but I have no means of getting more facts about them than I submit. After consulting with Dr. Craver, we decided to approve these bills with another letter to Mrs. Hussman, asking her to have her dental work done at the Memorial Hospital. She replied to this letter that her husband had to get off from work to bring her to the hospital, and this she thought was impractical. Rather than make a detailed investigation, I suppose it will be better to pay these bills. Our experience with this and other patients indicates that Mr. Berry has succeeded in preventing us from gaining the full confidence of these patients. Sincerely yours California James Ewing.
