This will seknowledge receipt of Collins à Corbin's lett.r
undur date of 6th, as well as copy of Edwards and Saith's letter of
March 5th, rolative to the bills of Drs. Stevena and Poble as expert
sitnesses in Chicago in accordance with depositions taken Zebruary 24th.
After caroful consideration of the bills of these non, as vell
as our relations with thez, de hardly feel that it would be advisable to
raise any question relativo to the fees shich they have charged for their
services.
While you any not agree with us that chese nen ahoald hove apent
the time indicated in proparing thossolves to ably give such testizony as
asked for, still we feel that even though those non are considered experts in
the fiold of radiup thorngy that thay would not be qualified to give as
dofinite and conciso aithout a roviow of the literature as thoy would
with such a reviow. Furthersore, it cust be recalled that Dr. Pohle pade e
trip to Ann Arbor, Eichigan, to look up sous of the records of pationts to
whos ho had administered radium chloride internally at our request, and
that during this trip he also took occasion to senroh the literature at the
library at the University.
Dr. Stovens, shoz I as confident spent coro time then we realize
in proparing himsolf for the ordoal shich ho seat thru in Chicago, I feol
is a son who would be entirely fair and just with us in his chargos, and
would bot charge us a fes which he did not fecl entiroly justified, con-
sidering the tire which he expended in our behalf, es soll as lose of timo
in his private practico.
We are, thereforo, not writing these men asking them to reduce
their bills, but resubnitting the matter to you for your considoration with
the hopes that these bills will be paid wâthout any question.
if
you do not agree with us our suggestion is that you take up the matter
directly with Dr. Stevens and Dr. Pohle.
