Dr. H. H. Barker
United States Radium Corp.
535 Pearl Street
New York City, N. Y.
My dear Howard:
Please extend my greetings to
President Lee. I am sorry that his trip did
not produce a richer find of Radium ore. I
I suspect that some of these Western prospectors
and their friends have conceived the idea that a
mineral which has a black luster resembling that
of pitchblend must be legitimate material for
promoting the sale of Radium claims. Mr. Lee
will have to do some more prospecting in order
to re-open the Radium extraction business here
in America.
We are very much obliged to you for the
sample of phosphorescent zinc sulphide that has come
to us today. Perhaps within the next two or three
weeks we will be able to render you a report on
some experiments on this which Mr. Wahl has carried
out in the preparation of phosphorescent zinc sulphide.
By the way the Department of Physics
here has a Macbeth instrument for making comparisons
on the luminosity of specimens.
Yours very truly,
Herman Sohlund
Herman Schlundt.
