Dr. Herman Schlundt,
University of Hissouri,
Columbia, No.
Dear Dr. Schlundt:
Matters pretaining to the Tuck & Metz cases
seom to be at somewhat of a standstill, and from the present out-
look it does not appear as though these cases will come up for trial
before next fall.
Since you were East we have had one other suit
instituted by a Mrs. Hoare, and have been advised that there is
another case which is about ready to start suit by the namo of Hrs.
Henry.
These two cases are being hendled by the firm of Schneider
and Schneider, associated with & Mr. Ker1 who is an attorney in Newark.
These attorneys seen anxious to settle these cases it possible, although
they have rather exorbitant ideas as to the emount of "money that their
clients should receive.
Dr. Flinn bes examined both lrs. Hoare and lrs. Henry
in behalf of dr. Karl, and he tella us that he has not found any trace
of radioactive materials in les. Honry, and while the testsfor Mrs.
Hoare are not quite as conclusive, still there is considerable question
in his mind as to whether she is radioactive.
Dr. Flinn is seting as mediator endeavoring to effect
a settlement on behalf of these girls, and be has the consent of their
attorneys to allow us to make a complete examination, both physically
and electroscopially, Such exeninations to be made at his laboratory
and
in
his
presence.
We propose to accept their offer to make these
examinations, and should like to have you represent us in the matter of
electropgopic tests - we will probably also ask Dr. Fialla to partici-
pate.
The matter which I wish to raise with you at this
time is the date which would be most convenient for you, and we would
like to have these examinations pade as early as possible. Inasmuch,
as your school term closes early in June, I am wondering if it would
not be convenient for you to come at the close of the session?
Your letter with reference to the Mesothorium situa-
tion is at hand, and contents noted with interest. Do you know
whether or not Lindsey Light are also discontinuing their production
of Thorium Nitrate Is it not possible that if they are continuing
to produce thorium Nitrate the mesothorium residues could be obtained
for a nominal sum.
