buffy Dee 15 1930. Dr. Hermann Schlundt, University of Missouri, Columbus, Mo., Dear Doctor Schlundt: I was very much interested in yours and Mr. Berkor article which appeared in 5. recent number of the American Journal of Roentgenology and Radium Therapy. It rey interest you to know that I examined some people for the Fedoral Trade Commission and found two out of three to be radio-active after drinking Bailey's medicine. Lately I have had some interesting results in the expired air which may answer some of your questions. I examined a girl for radio-activity who had been receiving a modicine which I had recom mended but the doctor had given her larger doses than he should have. My standard Gemna reading was 50 to 45 25* 54 n Patient 49 44 20 36 11 50 45 20 12 Standard 50 45 25 15 Expired air Standard Lind 69 to 59 30° 38" ( This was rather rapid but I laid it to transporting the machine. Patient 90 to 50 22ee 90 to 50 17" ! Ne conect 90 to 50 15" These results puszled me very much end I was inclined to doubt the figures. On returning to my laboratory later in the afternoon I made another blonk and found the standard to cheok the one before the ex- pired air was collected. These results were so puzzling that I decided to go to Waterbury, Conn and examine four or five girls whom I had put on the seme troatment but not to the some degree as the pbove patient. I am only giving you the results on three as I was unable to make the expired air on the other two for lack of time. One of these girls is Marjorie on vhom you have the record of our last expired air examination. I have made gamma ray tests on her from time to time. urs Koss; Average natural leak wulf .00355 d/p/s/ Patient .00418 Ixpired air Natural leak 70 to 60 26° 52 * Patient 70 60 2° 29"
