Dr. Herman Schlundt,
University of Missouri,
Clumbia, Mo.
Dear Dr. Schlundt:
I am herewith returning to you copy of letter
addressed by you to Dr. Leake.
I have an appointment with Dr. Leake in Washington
tomorrow morning, at which time 1 am going to discuss with him
my objections to the forthcoming report.
My principal criticism of this report revolves
around the point that of a total of242 people examined, 74 were
employed since 1926, 134 prior thereto and 34 controls.
The pertinent question at the moment is the con-
dition of the industry as now conducted, and not as it was conducted
in the past, for tre are all agreed that there was a hazard prior
to 1926. It seems to ne that this report should deal primarily
with the 74, and eliminate the greater part of the data dealing with
those employed prior thereto. However, such is not the case, and
it is difficult in reading the text of the r port to differentiate
between their conclusions based upon data obtained on these two.
different groups.
I shall advise you further as to the result of
my conference, and also send you at a later date tables presenting
the picture as I see it.
Sincerely yours,
Vice President.
