Dear Mr. Markley: I am hersith sending you a copy of a report which we received from Dr. Flinn on his examination of lirs. Madlinger on February 25,1932. As you will recall Mrs. Wadlinger did not present herself for examination on the morning of February 24th,as arrenged, and on February 25th, Dr. Kneff called Dr. Flinn and stated that Mrs. lost her way on the preceding day, and asked if it would be convonient for him to examine Mrs. Madlinger that day. They made an appointment for 1:30 and Mrs. Madlinger presented herself around 2:30 P.M.. I made it a point to be there more to ascertain the type of person Mrs. Madlinger was than ayything else. You will note upon reading the report that Dr. Flinn is not at all satisfied with the result of his test, and from the data presented quite justly so. Dr. Flinn has the feeling, I believe, that lirs. Madlinger may have been loaded with some radium, not internally but externally. He told me over the 'phone that he did not complete his tests until after five ofolock, and had any of his lady assistants been about he would have requested lirs. Wadlinger to remove her clothing for further tests - however, this was not practical in view of the fact that he was there alone with Mrs. Madlinger and her friend. Dr. Flinn had his technician make a blood report, copy of which we have. We presume that it will be necessary to arrange for a day for the physical examination of Mrs. Madlinger by Dr. Brothers and at such time I think it highly essential that we arrange for re- peating the electroscopic tests. Perhaps lrs. Madlinger would not object to presenting herself at Dr. Flinn's office for such an addi- tional series of tests. That, of course, would be the ideal place to do this kind of work, Dr. Flinn examined Mrs. Madlinger on March 7,1929, and found that she contained by the ganna ray method, approxinately 2.5 micrograms, while the recent examination reveals anywhere from 10 to 18.6 micrograms. lie shall await word from you before doing anything further in this matter.
