Dr. Herman Schlundt,
University of Missouri,
Columbia, Mo.
Dear Dr. Schlundt:
We have before us a report forwarded by
the Radium Extension Service, giving the amounts of radium
element which you found in the various patients examined at
the Elgin State Hospital.
I am quite interested in the comparative
amounts as found by the gamma ray test and the expired air.
The amount of radium in the system in the free emanating state
is certainly large in practically all of these cases, and I
am wondering what your theory may be on this subject. Do
you feel that where such a large amount of the radium is in
a highly free emanating state that its possibility of being
eliminated is good.
The information which I have is incomplete
inasmuch as there is no data relative to the dates which the
radium chloride was administered. The table does contain
the amounts given.
Very truly yours,
Vice President.
