Mr. H. H. Barker
MAY 31 1932
United States Radium Corporation
535 Pearl Street
New York City
My dear Barker:
Please let me tell you that the electro-
meter arrived yesterday and it seems to be in good con-
dition. So far we have not made any experimental runs
with it, but as soon as we have set it up and tested out
the instrument, we shall advise you again.
Let me say that we are not only grateful
but we appreciate the spirit that the United States
Radium Corporation has shown during these years since
we started the experiments on radium poisoning in its
contributions in fostering research along these lines.
Your letter telling about the conference
you had with Dr. Ewing gave both Dean Robbins and my-
self quite a thrill. We feel very much encouraged as
a result of this conference and we are making every
effort to lay before Dr. Ewing our program of research.
The enclosed copy of our letter to Dr. Ewing will tell
the rest of the story.
We trust that our letter will make an
appeal to Dr. Ewing and that he will as a result write
to Dr. MacNeal or have a talk with him. In addition
we think it will be of benefit to us to have you make
contact with Dr. MacNeal and I hope it will also be of
some interest to you to do this.
Your suggestion not to broadcast to
Dr. MacNeal from too many sources I think is a good one,
and we are not taking further steps to interest him.
With very best of good wishes, I remain,
Sincerely yours,
Herman Schlundt
Herman Schlundt.
