E, A. Pohle, M.D.,
University of Wisconsin,
Madison, Wisconsin.
Dear Dr. Pohle:
Mrs. Barker has a boy just past 17 years
old by the name of Sam Mead, who is planning on entering
the University of Wisconsin this fall. He is particularly
interested in radio, and has an amateur broadcasting plent.
It is ay opinion that for his age, he is quite well advanced
in this type work, and after reviewing the various educational
institutions, he feels that in all probability Wisconsin offers
more in the line in which he is interested than the average in-
stitution.
ilhile in a way I an familiar with the situation
at Wisconsin, still it has been some 25 odd years since I was a
student there, aud obviously conditions have changed. The point
in shich we are interested at the moment is whether or not it is
advisable for a freshman to live in the dormitories. lie are ad-
vised that he can obtain accomodations there if he wishes to.
In case you can spare a few moment's time, I should appreciate
your giving na the benefit of your contacts there, in advising
as to what you believe would be the best thing to do in this
natter.
I had hoped to drive out to Madison this fall,
but we are now advised that the LaPorte case, in which you and
Dr. Stevens gave depositions at Chicago, will go to trial on
September 17th, which will neen that my time between now and
that date will be occupied, as well as a week or ten days from
September 17th.
With kind regards, I an,
Sincerely yours,
HHBarkersD
