DEPARTMENT OF LABOR (411) DIVISION OF PUBLIC CONTRACTS Washington ) IN THE MATTER OF THE DETERMINATION ) OF THE PREVAILING MINIMUM WAGES FOR ) ) NOTICE THE AIRCRAFT MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY ) ) After due notice, a hearing was held before the Public Con- tracts Board at Washington, D.C., on March 10, 1938, at which time testimony was taken, based upon which, findings of fact were made by the Board to assist the Secretary of Labor in determining the prevail- ing minimum wages in the Aircraft Manufacturing Industry, including the Manufacture of Aeroplanes, Aircraft Engines, Propellers, Acces- sories and the Manufacturing and Finishing of Parts. Based upon the testimony taken at this hearing, the Public Contracts Board made certain recommendations to the Secretary of Labor, a copy of which was mailed to all known parties of interest. It now being deemed advisable that further evidence be taken in the matter, You are hereby notified that the Public Contracts Board will reconvene the hearing as noticed on February 28, 1938, at 10:00 aem., Thursday, September 8, 1938, in Room 3229 Department of Labor Build- ing, Washington, D.C., at which time an opportunity will be given to persons engaged in the above industry, either as employers or as em- ployees, to groups of such persons and to all others, and in such manner as may be determined by the Board, to furnish such evidence as may be deemed relevant. Briefs or telegraphic communications may be filed, but they should be received by the Administrator on or be- fore the hoaring date. Five copies of all briefs must be submitted. While the information concerning learners and apprentices is not meant to exclude other pertinent wage information, it would be particularly holpful to have the following data: (1) Total number of productive employees a. Number of learners b. Number of apprentices (2) Wages of leorners per hour a. Entrance rate b. Period of employment before advancement C. Wages at each stage of advancement (3) Wages of apprentices per hour a. Entrance rate b. Period of employment before advancement C.
