dosage or any dosage which might prove injurious?

Is it not a fact that from New and Non Official Rezedies one would have been justifi ed
in prescribing the use of radium chloride by mouth over prolonged perioda of time -
any from 6 months to a year, the dosage varying anywhere from 2 to 6 micrograns per
day?
60. Is it not a fact that probably such anounts have bean administored, and that as far
as you know no deleterious effects, either current or latent were recomized?
61. Is it not a fact that the dangers of large quantities of radium have been récognized
aince its early use?

In this connection may I ask if you are familiar with the use of radium in the deep
ray therany?
63, Are you familiar with the precautions necessary and recommended in the handling of
radium for this purpose?

Such precautions have been reconmended by the British X-roy and Radium Protection
Comittee, Bureau of Standards Dept. of Commerce X-ray and Radium Protection,
Mottram, Deajardines, and others.
65, Aro you familier with any or all of the offects large amounte of radium and radio-
active preparations have produced, some of which may have been deleterious,
described by Camoron; Carmen; de Cournelles; Qudzent & Halberstaedter Jaulin:
Larkins: Lasarus Barlow; Lasarus; Loeb: Roitter Russ; Chambers is Scott; Weil;
Tiel a Lacassagne.
66. Do the recommendations of the British X-ray and Redium Protection Comm. etc., or
the men who have described the biological effects of large amounts of radium in any
way apply to the internal use of radium in doses usually administered?
67. Is not the administration of radium internally, either intravenously, intramuscular-
ly, etc., or per os, entiroly separate and apart froa the use of large amounts of
radium in doep ray work, where the effects are due primarily to the beta and gamme
radiation?
