TEST FOR RADIOACTIVITY ON MRS. HOARE by Herman Schlundt *** The tost was conducted in the laboratory of Froderiok Flinn, College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University, New York on Tuesday, June 17, 1930. The instruments used in these tests were the samo ones that have served in previous tests for radioactivity of persons suspected of "Radium poisoning". Both the gamma ray test and the expired air tost were made. The results of the measurements indicate that the case of Mrs. Hoaro is to be regarded as a border line oase. The results fix a suspicion that Mrs. Hoaro is slightly radioactive. The total quantity of radium which our tests indicate does not exceed two mierograms (2 g). Different series measurements give a range of one to two miorograns for the total amount of radium. Considering the somewhat adverse weather conditions which provailed on the day these moasuromen'ts had to be made, the figures given for the amount of radium leave an element of doubt in my mind cone cerning the positive charactor of the results. A critical examination of the data obtained will doubtless point to the conclusion that the values givon for the radiosctivity of Mrs. Hosro, clearly lie within the limits of error of the instruments used for the measurements. If weather conditions had been more favorable for electrosecpie neasurements, perhaps a more definite result might have been obtained, but under the conditions of the test the experimental data. leavos an element of uncortainty in the case of Mrs. Houre of which I oan not divest myself. Respectfully subnitted, Herman Schlundt
