Engineers personnel operate cranes,bulldozers and
other construction equipment to complete construction of the new sub-
surface installation for the U.S.Air Force on the polar icecap--The
bldgs,built of tubes 18 ft. in diameter and of varying lengths are in-
terconnected with passageways--U.S.Signal Corps communications person-
nelmaintain constant touch with main base for essential services--&
typical Arctic storm blows over temporary construction camp--workers 1
construction camp mess hall
INFCRMATION:(installation bldgs are
specially designed to sink slowly into the soft snow of the Greenland
polar Icecap--the Engineers employed the submarine "pressure-hull"
