i think it would be very helpful to do the environment political
briefing for the president BEFORE his major speech next week. to
date, we getting pretty much brushed off by speech writers. if
envt is going to get into these theme setting speechs, it needs to
start coming from the pres himself. dlc speech last night is
being billed as THE words of the Pres -- directly from him
unfiltered -- the real mark of what he stands for. note NO
mention of the envt. as i wrote you yesterday, webster says no
can do before the speech. only time he suggested was some part of
your lunch. i now understand that the lunch is a breakfast (which
is otherwise a problem for us -- see below). do you want to use
15 mins of your bkfst time with him to very quickly go thru the
political presentation??
on the bkfst itself -- note that we had already scheduled (for
weeks) a bkfst for you to host the business round table for them
to come in and discuss their report on reg reform. recall that i
was planning on doing this in a more low-key way, but you
expressed a strong interest in hosting it yourself. we have
now invited all of your reg advisors (as set up in the exec.
order). we have also now moved the bkfst to 7:30 am in order to
accomodate your newly scheduled bkfst with the pres at 8:15. at
the risk of sounding too fresh about this, i need to ask you to
really try to be there as close to 7:30 as possible in light of
the fact that you may only have 45 mins. IF THIS DOESN'T WORK PLS
TELL ME so I CAN CANCEL THIS ASAP TODAY. the ceos of dupont, dow
and olin are coming. thx
