10 July 1993 To: Bruce Reed, Welfare Planning Group, The White House David T. Ellwood, Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services I would appreciate a copy of the press release of 7/8/93 cited in the New York Times of 7/9/93. I would also appreciate it if you would provide me copies of working papers released to date and add my name to your mailing list for future releases and papers. I am one of about 81 million chronically ill or disabled Americans who are not represented in the political process by nonprofit organizations or legislators because the chronically ill/disabled/ medically indigent are not considered a constituency worthy of note by lobbyists and legislators oriented to the affluent. I appreciate what appears to be an unusual effort on your part to democratize the process in this important area. When will you be holding a public hearing in New York City?
