I.
PURPOSE
To thank the corporate partners for their continued support of efforts to
highlight the Medicare Mammography Initiative, which provides prevention
benefits in order to deter breast cancer.
II.
BACKGROUND
You will participate in a photo op with 18 representatives of the national
sponsors and corporate partners of the Medicare Mammography Initiative.
This event continues your support for this initiative, which you have been
involved with since 1993. Last year, you and the President highlighted the
efforts of the Medicare Mammography Initiative and its partners at a
Saturday Radio Address during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October
of 1997. In 1996, you participated in a panel with breast cancer survivors
in Room 450 of the OEOB to highlight the Initiative. On Mothers Day, 1994,
you held an event in the East Room with senior women and advocates to
highlight your efforts from town hall meetings you had held earlier on this
issue.
