Dear Hillary,
I am writing on behalf of what I believe to be millions of
Americans to ask you to reconsider changing your image.
When I read that you were thinking of emulating your
heroine, Eleanor Roosevelt, and retiring into the political
background, so to speak, I was very upset.
Mrs. Roosevelt was a product of her times, times in which it
was socially unacceptable for women to have a good mind, let
alone speak it. She did an incredible job under difficult
circumstances and let herself in for withering criticism, as
you know. Her hats, of course, were another matter.
I hope you understand how exciting it is to finally have a
First Lady who has the intelligence, skills and courage to
serve as co-President and to live in a time when such a
woman is encouraged to be all she can. Let someone else
work on the non-critical problems. We need you working with
the President on the tough issues.
Remember us who admire and respect you and forget the nasty
snipers. Rigid and reactionary are words we would all like
to forget.
Warmest wishes to you and the President for the holidays and
all the days to follow.
