Dear Mrs. Clinton:
I am writing to extend an invitation to you to come to the
7th Congressional District of Illinois for a Town Hall meeting on
health care reform between October 1, 1993 and October 22, 1993.
As the former Chairwoman of President Clinton's Task Force
on Health Care Reform, your presence at such a meeting would be
extraordinarily beneficial and meaningful to the constituents of
the 7th District. Spanning from the upper-middle class high-
rises along the lakefront through the majority of Chicago's
public housing projects on the south and westsides of the city to
solidly middle-class western suburbs including Bellwood,
Westchester and Berkeley, my District is truly a "slice of
America". As such, health care reform is an issue of vital
importance to my constituents at this time.
Some of the concerns that my constituents have expressed
include the need for comprehensive benefits, universal care,
long-term care insurance regulation, cost containment, and
guaranteed access to high quality care for low-income, unemployed
and part-time employed individuals. As one of the nation's
leaders in the effort to reform this country's health care
system, your input and involvement at this gathering would be
invaluable.
The Town Hall meeting would take place in the suburb of Oak
Park and could be scheduled at a time and date most suitable to
your schedule. I hope that you will consider the possibility of
attending such a meeting and I would gladly welcome you "home" to
Chicago for this event.
