As you know, we have three major events this fall - Prime Minister Blair's visit, People's
Republic of China visit and the Arts and Humanities Dinner.
We have a unique opportunity for entertainment for each of these events if we can book
them early. I am hopeful you will let me know your thoughts on the following
entertainment suggestions for each:
Prime Minister Blair's Dinner - RAGTIME will be opening on Broadway.
They have offered to put together a 20 to 25 minute
synopsis of their production for the After Dinner
Entertainment. It would be exciting, uplifting and uniquely
American.
People's Republic of China Dinner - Jazz is very popular in China and
I suggest inviting Wynton Marsalis to put together the
best group of Jazz greats he can find to do a 25 minute
performance. Again, this would be very different as well
as being typically American.
Arts and Humanities Dinner - I would like to recommend The Emerson
String Quartet for the After Dinner Entertainment. They are
respected worldwide and I believe they would add a real
element of class to the evening.

This fall, 3 major dinners are scheduled at the White House. We are in the process of formulating the guest
lists for each. I would be grateful if you would put together a list of suggested guests for the dinners and send
them to me by the designated deadline for each particular dinner. If we have not received your list by the
noted date, I will not be able to include your suggestions when I send the lists to the President and First Lady
for review.

Britain, Tony Blair - Monday, September 29
DEADLINE: Wednesday, July 23

State Dinner for President Jiang Zemin of the People's Republic
of China - Wednesday, October 29.
DEADLINE: Wednesday, August 6
Please note that the list you send is only a suggested one. Each guest list goes through numerous revisions
before the final list is complete.
For each name you suggest, please include their correct title, phone number, fax number and address as well
as their marital status. Also, include a brief one-line description as to why they should be invited to the
dinner. Thanks and I look forward to receiving your suggestions.
