Governor Buddy MacKay Senator Bob Graham Attorney General Bob Butterworth Insurance Commissioner Bill Nelson Mitchell Berger - Finance Chair, Florida Coordinated Campaign Congresswoman Carrie Meek Congresswoman Corrine Brown State Senator Daryl Jones (first African-American elected Senate Democratic leader in Florida) State Senator Ken Jenne (GIN-E) State Senator Howard Forman State Senator Buddy Dyer Terrie Brady - Chair, Florida Democratic Party Issues Medicare-Social Security - The Dole/Gingrich Congress attempts to reduce Medicare payments would have severely impacted Florida's senior citizens. The senior citizens in Florida have rallied around this issue. The right-wing agenda of the Republican platform - Florida will put a heavy emphasis on reaching out to Republican pro-choice women. Governor Chiles' 1994 campaign successfully reached out to pro-choice republicans women, impacting the election significantly. Crime - Although Florida has experienced a higher crime rate than most states, over the past two years this crime rate has been in decline and there is wide spread support for the President's gun control programs in the voter rich urban areas. The President has also demonstrated to Florida a 'tough on crime' attitude which can be attributed to the recent decline in the state's crime statistics.
