Further to my message of 17 July 1999, we were deeply saddened in
South Africa by the news that John Jr, Carolyn and Lauren are now
presumed to have perished when their plane disappeared.
Once again, I wish to convey to you, to the Kennedy and Bessette
families and to the people of the United States of America, my
personal condolences, as well as those of the Government and people
of South Africa.
The families continue to be in our thoughts and prayers as they
