A-230 pg. 51 INTERAGENCY POSITION CLASSIFICATION STANDARDS GROUP: Economic and Commercial SERIES: Commercial TITLE: Commercial Clerk LEVEL: FSN-1510-05 Level 5 BASIC FUNCTION At this level Commercial Clerk positions are responsible for providing specialized clerical support for one or more of a Commercial Section's functions. TYPICAL MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Under the supervision of a commercial officer and/or a more senior FSN, positions at this level are responsibile for one or more of the following specialized clerical functions or the equivalent. 1. In a commercial library, receives U.S. and foreign national visitors and business representatives; assists them in using the library's collection and locating requested materials; replies to routine written and verbal trade inquires, referring the more difficult inquiries to more senior staff according to written or verbal guidelines; reads and marks newspapers, magazines, trade journals, etc., for designated research topics concerning various commodity/industry fields; and maintains up to date catalogs and bibliographic listings. and/or 2. At trade fairs, exhibits, or other trade promotion activities, provides general information regarding U.S. commercial activities and services provided by a Commercial Section; assembles and distributes trade promotion materials; assists more senior employees with trade interest polls and other information gathering activities, operates audio-visual equipment, etc. May assist in setting up trade promotion/commercial exhibits, displays, bulletin boards, etc. and/or 3. Provides specialized clerical support to one or more commodity areas, commercial teams, and/or other specific segments of à commercial section.
