MEMORANDUM FOR ERSKINE BOWLES
FROM:
Harold Ickes
SUBJECT: The Freddie Mac Board
I understand that the President has 3 vacant positions on the Freddie Mac Board. One is
apparently going to go to Harriet Wood, assuming she is qualifies. I got several calls over
the weekend pushing Dennis Eckart, the former Congressman from Ohio. I have no position
one way or the other, other than to say we would probably be well served to fill these
positions as quickly as possible.
As you know, Joan Baggett wants an appointment to the Fannie May Board. If that is not
possible, perhaps an appointment to Freddie Mac would do. But you should check with her.
