Dear Mr. Ickes:
This is just a note to thank you for your help last
summer and fall, when I was an Assistant General Counsel at
the Central Intelligence Agency. During the campaign, I
contacted you about the possibility of working for Clinton-
Gore, and later I wrote you about the prospect of working for
the new Administration. In response, you passed my resume to
Sandy Berger and Eli Segal, and to Governor Riley as well.
It was gracious of you to make that effort, and to send me
copies of your forwarding letters.
While those approaches did not directly bear fruit, I
wanted to let you know that after the Inauguration I was
offered a position as Special Assistant to the new Director
of Central Intelligence, Jim Woolsey. I have been in that
job for three months now, and am finding it both challenging
and rewarding.
Although I regret not having been able to work on the
campaign, I do appreciate your encouragement along the way.
Again, thank you.
Sincerely,
Jonathan M. Fredman
