Gov 't Awards -WH June 6, 1995 MEMORANDUM FOR THE PRESIDENT THROUGH FROM: THE ELAINE VICE KAMARCK PRESIDENT Ell SUBJECT: FORD FOUNDATION NOMINEES Attached is a list of 30 federal projects nominated by the Ford Foundation and Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government for the Innovations in American Government Awards program. The starred entries are also Hammer Award winners. This is the first year the foundation has recognized federal initiatives. Seventy state and local programs have also been nominated. The Innovation Awards recognize programs and policies that represent new and effective approaches to meeting public needs. In July, the 100 semi-finalists will be narrowed to 30 finalists. The top 15 will receive $100,000 grants. The other 15 will receive $20,000 grants. Winners will be announced in October.
