Chicago Headquarters Eastern Offices CHEMICAL BANK BUILDING I330 ARCH ST. CHICAGO, ILL. PHILADELPHIA, PA. THE COLUMBIAN EXPOSITION AND WORLD'S FAIR ILLUSTRATED AN ARTISTIC PORTRAYAL OF THE GREATEST EXPOSITION THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN. A COMPLETE HISTORICAL RECORD OF THE UNPARALLELED ADVANCEMENT OF OUR GLORI- OUS COUNTRY DURING FOUR HUNDRED YEARS. The Columbian Engraving and Publishing Company are engaged in collecting and compiling material for the publication of a volume on "THE COLUMBIAN EXPOSITION AND WORLD'S FAIR," to be opened in Chicago in May, 1893. It is our determination to make this work one of unsurpassed value on the subject, and apart from its intrinsic worth to have the materials used in the publication of the very best quality, and the book, an example of the highest art of the engraver and printer. In pursuance of our policy, we intend to represent the larger cities and towns appropriately, and to publish historical and descriptive sketches of Benevolent, Humane, Charitable, Educational, and other institutions of the respective states, with engravings, representing the same as far as practicable, together with biographical sketches and portrait engravings of a limited number of representative professional and business men of each state. While the cost of conducting the publication will be enormous to the Company, to each individual or institution having a biographical or historical sketch, together with an excellent copper-plate engraving, it will be comparatively small, considering the high standard and excellence of the work and the wide-spread circulation the book will have in the United States, and among all nations participating in the GREAT EXPOSITION. Enclosed please find prospectus of the work with sample portraits. Hoping to have your personal co-operation in this enterprise, we are Very truly yours The Columbian Engraving and Publishing Company
