Don't Mention 'Em!
By WALLACE IRWIN
(Air-' If You Talk in Your Sleep, Don't Mention My Name")
A young German lady was asleep in her boudoir
When Post and Forbes were flying o'er Berlin;
They had no thought of conquest as they rode the Conqueror,
When bang-the gas-bag broke and they dropped in.
The lovely little Teuton cried, "Ach Gott und Liederkranz."
When almost on the bed fell Al and Gus.
But, being perfect gentlemen, they held her lily hands
And warbled forth their explanations thus:
Chorus: "We're a pair of fallen angels,
Though we're licensed pilots, too;
But nobody knows why you met us,
And nobody knows why we met you.
And should your husband ask you questions,
You can say you're not to blame:
So, sweetheart, if you talk in your sleep,
Don't mention our name!"
CHIVES
A youth and a maiden on the Princeton bleachers sat
To watch the game and cheer the Tiger's cub,
When suddenly right overhead a biplane flew--like that-
Defying God and man and Aero Club.
"That birdman has no license," cried the girl, "how can it be
He busts the rules with criminal intent?"
"Hush, child!" replied her escort, "he is hired by R. J. C.
And you know that Bob's the Aero President.
Chorus: "You may think it rather funny
What he has the nerve to do;
But nobody dare in-sin-u-ate-
If Bob makes the rules he can break 'em too.
And should reporters ask you questions
About the football game,
Ah, sweetheart, if you talk to the press,
Don't mention his name!"
