The Department today received three of the

where they are, They are in
bronze, silver and gold beautifully and elabor-
ately executed; the diameter is about two inches,
and the medals are in the form of a star with five
points.
Within the circular border is the representation
of a male figure in relief, with a serpent in each

discomfiture by the Genias of Libersy, who with
an air of apparent calmness imerposes her shield
as a defence from his designs.
The medal is surmounted by an anchor, above
wbich is a buckle, and at the termination of a
strip of woven silk, (the colors arranged after the
manner of those of the American flag,) is a pin
for the attachment of this mark of honor to the
breast.
