Mar Department,
ADJUTANT GENERAL'S OFFICE,
Washington, July s, 1874.
Major a. p Howe 4th arty,
Disbursing offran
Louisville Ky
Sir:
In compliance with the request of the Second Auditor of the Treasury,
you will hereafter deposit at the end of each month, by one certificate of
deposit, all amounts accumulated during the month, instead of making
a separate deposit for each case as is now done. A schedule should be
forwarded to the Secretary of the Treasury with the certificate of deposit,
giving in detail the items of which the aggregate amount is composed.
The evidence upon which the deposits were made should be filed with
the abstract of deposits, and accompany your accounts. In case the deposit is
made upon verbal information, your certificate to that effect should be filed
therewith. Form 46, "Letter to Secretary of the Treasury," may still be
used, erasing all after upc.," and inserting "as per schedule inclosed." For
schedule use Form 37, "Abstract of deposits."
Hereafter a copy of letter to the Secretary of the Treasury will not be
required by this Office.
Very respectfully,
your obedient servant,
Assistant Adjutant General.
