    "description": "The Boston Redevelopment Authority, utilizing the latest GIS (Geographic Information Systems) technologies and data collected during the 2010 census, created a variety of thematic maps locating and analyzing Boston’s population and its demographic characteristics. One series shows the location of foreign-born immigrants according to their country of origin. According to the U.S Census Bureau, the patterns of immigration to Boston during the first decades of the 21st century are much different than the first decades of the 20th century. Currently the majority of immigrant groups come from Latin America (48.4%) and Asia (25.5%), while those coming 100 years ago came mainly from Europe (Ireland, Italy, and Russia).",
