Robert L. “Bob” Pura was born in New York City and raised in Miami Florida. He worked at a number of colleges in the Massachusetts community college system and served as president of Greenfield Community College for 17.5 years until his retirement in June 2018. In this interview, recorded in the month before Pura retired from GCC, he talks about his childhood, the importance of his own community college experience, his experiences through his associates degree through graduate school, his career teaching in the K-12 system and later working in community colleges, and coming to GCC. He discusses his time at GCC, the culture that makes GCC distinctive, and things he was proudest of during his time here, among other topics.
