Source Description

Letter expressing Shirley's hope that Wendell will successfully recruit men for his regiment, and that these men will remain in Boston following their enlistment. Wendell should also publish a proclamation informing seamen of a 3-pound bounty if they enlist. The expedition has good prospects of success. William Shirley was governor of Massachusetts from 1741 to 1757.
