Source Description

Brief interleaved notes written in a copy of "Gaine's New-York Pocket Almanack, for the year 1777" by a surgeon in the British Army during the American Revolution. Notes convern the activities of the fleet under Admiral Richard Howe. Includes explanatory letters, 1889-1890, on the provenance of the diary. These images are the best images possible, due to the condition of the orginal manuscript.
