This is thought to be a speech or article written by Louise Elliot, former Historical Commission member. She was a particularly avid historian, and in the article, offers details about historical facts that sometimes deviate from what is commonly thought. For example, she wrote that the house standing on the Jasper Morgan [Tavern] site "although not the original tavern, is believed to be over a hundred years old." Other historians have repeated the idea that the house standing there is the Morgan Tavern, where Edwin D Morgan was born, when in fact, the house is not that old, as is stated in this document.
