Source Description
Elizur Timothy Washburn writes to Amos A. Phelps about his happiness in hearing of Amos's happiness in his present situation "that you seem to enter with so much spirit into that which should occupy the attention of the theological student in this important age, in fine, that your heart is in the good work." He writes about his improvement in health and discusses remedies he has used. He discusses his spiritual duty and declares, "I do believe that it is my wish to be director in the path of duty, and it is my prayer to be led by the spirit of God in forming my determination, whether to remain or go. If I consulted inclination I should far prefer the pursuits of theology to the teaching D[eaf]&D[umb]."
