Theodore Parker writes to Convers Francis in regards to discussing a variety of lectures he's heard by various scholars of note. He speaks of the unity of character in the French that has "its merit. THey are always gay-gay in their business-gay in their religion, their churches even have a style that is particularly French." He contrasts religionism of John Bull which has a cruel aspect.
