Letter from P. B. Fisk, Heath, to Amos Augustus Phelps, Jan 13. 1838
In reply to the request of Amos A. Phelps, P. B. Fisk sends information regarding the Baptist ministers of Heath and vicinities, including the attitude of each one toward the antislavery cause. He says that “my brethren do not all take a judicious course ? with regard to the death of Mr. Lovejoy.” He expresses his reservation on the course that the antislavery movements are taking, and warns against being “governed by spirit instead of principle.”
