Mary Carpenter is happy that Maria Weston Chapman has safely received "Lady Byron's beautiful picture; it will be a gem at your next Exhibition." She remarks that Maria W. Chapman has not mentioned, in newspapers or letters, the paintings by Emily Browne, who may be hurt by the omission. If Chapman does not receive as good a box [of donations for the anti-slavery fair] this year, Carpenter attributes it to the efforts they had to make for the Irish.
