    "description": "Estlin says that he and his daughter were greatly interested in May's account of the Anti-Slavery Fair. He tells May that his daughter was not altogether pleased at seeing an excerpt of her letter in the paper and that he thinks letters should be published anonymously in the abolition periodicals unless the author permits the use of his or her name. Estlin tells May that he feels a handbill stating the exact purposes of the Fair should be printed, for many English people are unaware as to how the proceeds are used and are of the belief that American slaves are quite happy. Estlin informs May that he has been studying the history of the Massachusetts Anti-Slavery Society. He discusses the case of John T. Sargent and Theodore Parker and thanks May for his account of the affair. Estlin then says Harriet Martineau's recovery has been aided by mesmerism, but he regrets her attitude towards it and believes her mental powers have been impaired. Estlin concludes the letter by asking a number of questions on anti-slavery matters.",
