William Lloyd Garrison believes the work Slavery Illustrated in its Effects Upon Woman and Domestic Society was written in 1837 by the "late Rev. George Bourne, of New York City, a real 'son of thunder' in the cause of the oppressed, and one of the earliest in the field under the banner of immediate and unconditional emancipation; ..."
