He said that the reason the country subscribers received copies of \"The Christian Register\" containing the article was that their copies were mailed first and the issue was not changed until the country subscriptions were already being delivered. Parkman also says that Samuel May, Jr. thought that Dr. Francis Parkman had the article withdrawn because the writer mentioned him in connection with another one. He does not agree with May, Jr. about the motives of David Reed, the publisher of \"The Christian Register.\"",
